BMW 1070cc SE Performance Torque Kit for R80 R100

The 1070cc SE Torque Big Bore cylinder kit is an in-house development by SE Sport-Evolution. It consists of a set of forged pistons, a set of forged H-shank connecting rods and a pair of Nikasil coated cylinders including VA pushrod tubes.

For the cylinders, we decided to rework the stock cylinders, which we offer in exchange. The original BMW cylinders are proven and of high quality, not to be compared with the quality of many after-cast accessory cylinders.

For the piston production we got a strong partner on board, the company Pistal Racing is one of the leading piston manufacturers worldwide. Pistal built Superbike pistons for our Honda and later Ducati Superbikes in our racing days, which we used successfully in both the IDM and the Superbike World Championship.

The 1070cc SE Torque Kit includes the Nikasil coated cylinder pistons in "double cross" design (compare the pictures of the bottom once with other pistons). These pistons are driven with the original connecting rods and are characterized by extreme stability and thus a long life, even under the heaviest load The piston rings, especially the oil scraper ring, is state of the art. So very good cylinder sealing with very low friction.

Do I need a diffrent camshaft?
No. The kit already delivers very good torque and performance data with the original camshaft. But if you want to go one better, we recommend our 324° shaft. The profile delivers plenty of power from low revs and a lively power delivery at the top end. If you want to be very sporty, the 340° shaft is a good choice. Bear in mind, however, that such a cam takes power from the centre in order to pack peak power on top. The conditions in the cylinder head should also be created for this and an increase in revs should be considered. If this is your plan, please get in touch with us to discuss the best course of action.

Do I need a dual ignition?
No. The kit already offers very decent torque and performance data thanks to its simple installation without any modifications. The difference to the series is striking. This means that the 1070cc SE torque kit can always be ridden with single ignition. However, the conversion to dual ignition offers the possibility of further increasing the compression and compression ratio (area between piston crown and combustion chamber at TDC). Both lead to an increase in the intermediate pressure and thus to even more torque and more power. 
If the 1070 is run without dual ignition, we recommend limiting the maximum pre-ignition. We have designed small stops for this purpose, which reduce the ignition advance by 5-6° in the maximum range. These stops with the corresponding installation instructions are already included with the 1070 Torque Kit.

Does the combustion chamber have to be adapted in any case?
No. The kit is intended for use on a fully standard R80 or R100 engine. However, you can optimise the combustion and generate more power and torque by adapting the combustion chamber to the larger bore. We offer this service for €95 per combustion chamber.

We offer two different 1070cc kits. One with short pistons and the necessary long H-connecting rods, the other for use with the original connecting rods. Both kits are identical in design. So both are high strength forged pistons in "double cross" design. The piston dome is identical, so the compression height and valve pocket size are the same.

What is the difference?
The Power Kit with H-shaft connecting rod is suitable for the sporty driver. It revs up more spontaneously and freely. The Sport Kit is the right choice for riders who like this, and is a must for performance above 85 hp with increased revs. The torque kit retains the good-natured character of the BMW 2V Boxer, but makes it significantly more powerful and naturally more powerful. The best choice for all power levels up to 85 hp.
