Review:
These cartridges transformed my 86 R80. I did have progressive springs before this system, and those springs were better than stock, but these cartridges are way better. I also had SE shorten fork tubes by 50mm. That leveled bike out, probably redistributed weight more evenly but I have not confirmed that. The shorter tubes also stiffened front end. Cornering with much more confidence.

Couple things to be aware of. I had aftermarket top yolk (triple clamp) that was not the pass through type meaning there was a stop and 5 mm of aluminum from top of fork to top of yolk. These cartridges wouldn’t work with that setup; there weren’t enough threads on cartridges. I bought a different aftermarket top yolk that allows upper tubes to pass through. Problem solved. I have no experience with stock top yolk to know if these cartridges will work.

Second: the English translation of the instructions are not good. I spent the time waiting for parts to ship translating as best I could and still needed to ask some clarifying questions. SE we’re good at responding but even then, translation can be challenging.

Even with these cautions, I highly recommend these cartridges. A suspension shop that knows 2 valve bmws would probably breeze through the install.
