In the Basic package, the basic settings of the carburetors and ignition are made. The float levels are adjusted, the throttle valves and throttle cables are synchronized and the idle mixture is adjusted using the idle mixture screws. The ignition is adjusted, setting the ignition timing by means of the ignition light gun and the contacts (only for contact ignition system) by means of the closing angle tester.
- Synchronization of the throttle valves
- Synchronization of the throttle cables
- Adjustment of the idle mixture
- Adjustment of ignition timing
- Adjustment of the ignition contacts (contact ignition)
- Express power measurement
If no changes have been made to the air filter, exhaust and engine, the Carburetor Basic setting is the right one for your BMW two-valve engine. If changes have been made, we recommend the Carburetor Pro package.
Note: Any carburetor adjustment or tuning only makes sense if the carburetors, engine and ignition system are working correctly. If the carburetors have never been overhauled, it is recommended that this work be done before a tune-up. However, this also involves sealings that cannot be achieved so easily. First and foremost here are the O-rings of the throttle shaft. These are usually hardened after 30 years and no longer seal correctly. As a result, the engine draws secondary air and adjustment and smooth engine running is no longer possible. In the worst case, this can lead to engine damage because the mixture is too lean.
An adjustment is not a panacea. If your motorcycle spits and jerks, it is usually not done with just one adjustment. If this is the case, we recommend our diagnostic package.
